I had to re-enter my product key, which I did. I also had a HP Product Asssistant error related to my printer. I re-installed the printer driver and that went away. Then I started getting Unhandled Exception on Microsoft .Net Framework errors for version 4 or above related to a Product Key Token, and all my charms disappeared and my start button doesn’t work.
Win-C doesn’t work to return my start and charms. As amatter of fact my Windows button only works on Win-Pause and Win-R. Win-X doesn’t work either. I re-calibrated my display but I still don’t have charms or start. I hadn’t changed the calibration before this anyway. I have re-started my Windows Explorer in my Processes. Still no charms or start button
I have repeatedly uninstalled kb2934520 for 4.5.2. But it still shows up in my Windows Programs and Features list. I have it turned off there. When I have this uninstalled I don’t get the error anymore, but my Office programs are not all working correctly. I can’t open or preview a file directly from Outlook. I have run Aaron Stebner’s .net verifier. It shows no errors. When I try to run his repair tool nothing happens.
I have run the repair tool provided by Microsoft. Nothing happens. When I have kb2934520 installed on my PC I can’t turn it on in Windows features anymore and I get the Unhandled Exception error on startup repeatedly. I spent about 2 hours on Microsoft’s help chat in remote control of my PC with no change. They said I had to pay them $149 to get expert help. But this seems wrong when all this started from their updates.
I am now thinking I need to get a disk from HP for Windows 8 (this PC came with 8 on it), and uninstall 8.1 altogether and re-install just 8. Any other ideas? I don’t even know how to uninstall 8.1.
